Affordable housing offers $250 per month rent, housing for homeless, disabled patients

A new affordable housing building in Bed-Stuy is offering stable, permanent housing for people who may otherwise face homelessness due to health-related challenges. Woodhull II Residence, located across the street from NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, includes 57 units designated for adults living with serious mental illness and other chronic health conditions, who can be referred by the hospital. That’s how Elvis Jordan says he was able to find his new home after an injury left him unable to work and homeless. “I was all the way down. I was ready to give up, but they found me and unlike other promises, they really helped,” he said. The building also features 36 units for very low-income community residents – that could be as low as 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or roughly $250 per month.
