MANHATTAN — This “Ferry-tale” is the stuff of nightmares.
“Screamboat,” the latest horror flick from the folks behind the wildly popular “Terrifier” franchise, held its premiere Monday night at the Regal Union Square in Manhattan.
The aptly-titled film follows an oversized serial killer mouse — Steamboat Willie — as he goes on a murderous rampage during a late-night Staten Island Ferry ride. And with David Howard Thornton prancing around the boat as the title role of Willie, this horror-comedy had the theater roaring with laughter.
Staten Island’s very own Michael Leavy, Steven Della Salla and Steven LaMorte, all Monsignor Farrell High School alumni, teamed up to bring the film to the big screen shortly after Disney’s 1928 Steamboat Willie cartoon entered the public domain in January 2024.
