STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s a sunny Saturday morning in March with temperatures reaching an almost record-breaking high of 83 degrees and throughout Staten Island people are out mowing their lawns, sweeping their front steps and busily preparing their homes for the warm weather. At Christ Lutheran Church, it’s also a flurry of activity as almost a dozen volunteers are on hand doing the same thing— spring cleaning.
Their goal, however, is to make the Great Kills church they call home ready for a host of upcoming events to mark their 100th anniversary as a congregation.
