Recently New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officers were experiencing a fairly typical day of patrolling, observing and keeping the public safe. By the end of the day things would be anything but typical.
On Sunday April 13th NYSDEC officers were patrolling in Kings County when they observed a group of people unlawfully taking shellfish. By the time the investigation was complete, officers discovered a handgun hidden in a bucket of shellfish.
According to a NYSDEC press release, DEC officer Bieber witnessed a group of individuals illegally taking shellfish from an uncertified area of Gerritsen Beach in Brooklyn. Shellfish from uncertified areas are not safe to eat…
