What Rite Aid’s latest bankruptcy filing means for future of Staten Island location

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Rite Aid, the embattled pharmacy chain that has shuttered hundreds of stores in the past year, has once again filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and has indicated that all Rite Aid stores will either close or be operated by a new owner over the next several months.

The chain’s store locator indicates that there are 1,240 stores remaining in the United States, including one pharmacy on Staten Island, located at 43-68 Amboy Rd. in Eltingville.

Most shelves were bare at the location on Tuesday, and signage posted on the front door indicated that, beginning this week, rewards points would no longer be issued for qualifying purchases.
