Staten Island grandmother, 73, ‘lost everything’ in fire that decimated home

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island grandmother left gravely injured by a fire that ripped through her New Brighton home of nearly three decades must also now deal with a harsh reality: Her home, and everything in it, is gone.

And while the family of 73-year-old Leila Haider is just happy she escaped the flames with her life, they’re at a loss with what to do about the situation.
