STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — If you have questions about construction permits or property violations, the New York City Department of Buildings wants to hear them. The city agency — which enforces building codes, zoning regulations, and construction safety practices across all five boroughs — is hosting a free Staten Island community event this Saturday, and all NYC residents are invited to attend.
“At this event, small property owners can pose questions to DOB staff regarding construction projects they are considering or are currently pursuing, which may include questions about hiring a professional, applying for a permit, or about construction and building maintenance regulations,” the agency noted in an online registration page for the event. “Additionally, property owners have the opportunity to resolve open violations, including DOB violations and OATH summonses, and to resolve any open Stop Work Orders at their properties.”
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, and will be hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex located at 625 Father Capodanno Boulevard. Topics on the registration link include construction consultations for one- to four-family homes, how to resolve a stop-work order and how to resolve open violations…
