Mom recounts attack on autistic son outside Staten Island Mall; 2 teens charged with robbery

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island mother is reeling after her 16-year-old son was jumped and beaten by a group of four teens outside the Staten Island Mall in New Springville.

The teen, who has autism, was “randomly” attacked as he waited for a bus home, his mother, who requested anonymity, told the Advance/SILive.com. One of the assailants allegedly asked the boy for money before the group began to kick and punch him.

“Before he was attacked he went to go run for the bus for help, but the bus passed him,” said the woman. “At that time he said he knew that the kids were going to come after him.”…
