This stunning 100-year-old Staten Island bank building is closing after a century of service

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Santander Bank has notified the Office of the Comptroller of Currency that it will close 18 U.S. branches across six states before the end of this summer. Among them, a stately, historic banking facility in Stapleton that was constructed in 1924.

“Santander Bank continues to refine its branch footprint and retail presence, including introducing new formats and investing in digital capabilities to better accommodate our customers and meet their evolving needs,” the company noted in a statement.

According to an email sent to Santander customers and posted on social media, the branch is expected to close on Aug. 14.
