STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island school food service manager has been recognized as a 2025 New York City “Hunger Hero” for providing young people with delicious and nutritious school meals.
Mayor Eric Adams and Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos were recently joined by No Kid Hungry New York to recognize 52 “Hunger Heroes” across every one of the city’s school districts and food administration teams. They include cooks, aides, food services workers, inspectors, and compliance professionals who toil on the front lines of fighting hunger in schools.
“From feeding our communities during the pandemic to making sure our youngest New Yorkers have nutritious meals, our food service workers are some of the most dedicated individuals in our city,” said Aviles-Ramos. “I am honored to have the chance to celebrate today’s hunger heroes, and I thank them on behalf of school communities across the city for their dedication to our students.”…
