Mayor Adams, MTA Launch Public Review For East Harlem Housing Project Above New Subway Stop

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has officially kicked off the public review process for a transformative housing project in East Harlem.

Which aims to bring nearly 700 new apartments—including more than 150 permanently affordable units—to a site above the future 125th Street Q train station.

This marks the first private application to use new zoning tools under the mayor’s “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” initiative. The proposal, submitted by the MTA, will replace a long-vacant lot at East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue—formerly home to a Pathmark supermarket—with a 38-story mixed-use tower.
