This Staten Island teen’s ‘memorable’ prom night began with a horse and carriage

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island high school senior Christopher Romney recently made a grand entrance that no one at Susan E. Wagner High School’s prom will soon forget.

On Friday, the dapper 17-year-old arrived at his senior prom in a spectacular horse-drawn carriage, which clip-clopped to the entrance of the Staten Island Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomfield — turning heads and setting the tone for an unforgettable night.

“I told my mom I wanted a horse and carriage for prom,” said the Willowbrook resident. “She helped me get in contact with farms that do horse rentals. When I arrived, everyone was shocked. Most people show up in fancy cars, so it really surprised them.”…
