NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – The family of Win Rozario, a 19-year-old who was fatally shot by police in front of his family in their Queens home last year, is suing the city and NYPD.
The teenager called 911 for help during a mental health crisis in March 2024, police said. The responding NYPD officers shot and killed Rozario when he threatened them with scissors on the second floor of a family home at 101-12 103rd St. near 101st Avenue in Ozone Park, authorities said.
Now, Rozario’s brother and mother, who witnessed the shooting, have filed a lawsuit claiming police violated NYPD protocols and the family’s civil rights, their lawyers announced Monday.
