STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 54-year-old Fort Wadsworth man, who was charged with murder in a hit-and-run crash in Queens this week, has a unique link to a “Mob Wives” husband due to their involvement in an attempted bank heist dramatically thwarted by authorities on Thanksgiving Day 2008.
Bekim Fiseku of Garfield Avenue and Lee D’Avanzo, the husband of Drita D’Avanzo from the hit TV show featuring women with allegedly mobbed-linked relatives, were among four suspects arrested in a sting dubbed by authorities as “Operation Turkeyshoot” that made national news nearly two decades ago.
