‘We are going to be Staten Island strong’: Officials, Sliwa rally behind family fighting to keep pet pig

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — She’s hand-fed carrots and receives affectionate rubs multiple times daily. It’s quite apparent Lucy Gannone is in hog heaven.

And while she may be none the wiser, the 15-year-old Pygmy pig is at the center of a rallying cry which has garnered the support of local elected officials and mayoral candidate and founder of the Guardian Angels Curtis Sliwa.

Lucy, a registered emotional support animal lives with her family, the Gannones, in Tottenville. They say she is being forced out of her home by New York City officials…
