STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Patricia Brooks has spent the past six years volunteering at a local food bank to help feed hungry Staten Islanders.
Living off Social Security and relying on benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, she knows that every dollar counts when it comes to putting food on the table.
