Roll off truck overturns in crash on Staten Island, injures 1

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A roll off truck flipped over onto its side in a crash in Mariners Harbor Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 4:07 p.m. under an overpass in the vicinity of 300 Western Ave, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

A crew from Breen Bros. Towing worked to hook multiple cables from a towing vehicle to the underside of the truck to pull it back until it was righted.

The truck appeared to have sustained significant damage and hydraulic fluid could be seen pouring out of it on to the roadway.

An employee from the trucking company who was at the scene, told the Advance/SILive.com that the roll off truck is used to load and offload waste. He couldn’t confirm whether the truck’s driver was unable to clear the overpass or if a mechanical issue with the truck’s lift was involved…
