STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Social media rumors about the closure of the Staten Island Costco gas station have circulated for months, and a printed sign posted in the store Monday seemed to confirm the chatter. But according to administration at the location, customers will still be able to use the pumps for at least a few more months.
“The renovations have been postponed, pushed back to September,” noted an associate who answered the phone at the New Springville store on Tuesday, responding to an inquiry about a sign that was posted in the store just one day prior.
The sign, which offered apologies for the inconvenience, stated that, starting July 21, the gas station would be closed “until further notice” for renovations.
Costco corporate did not respond to a request for comment about the planned work, and no explanation was offered regarding the postponement…
