NYC Regional Slow Zone: This area of Staten Island now has a lower speed limit

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A lower speed limit of 20 MPH in an area of Staten Island’s North Shore has gone into effect as part of the city’s effort to slow traffic and keep pedestrians safe.

In April, a roughly .25-mile section of New Brighton was selected as a Regional Slow Zone. This zone is bordered by Jersey Street in the east, Richmond Terrace in the north, Tysen Street and Clinton Avenue in the west and Prospect Avenue in the south.

At the time, the city Department of Transportation said the speed limit would be lowered on all streets inside these boundaries from 25 MPH to 20 MPH, and on all but one of the border streets…
