STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island shoppers struggling with high grocery costs are getting some relief as Stop & Shop announced significant price reductions on approximately 3,500 products at all five of its borough locations.
The supermarket chain is implementing permanent price cuts on both national brands and its own private label items as part of a broader initiative to improve customer experience.
“We’re making a significant investment in our Staten Island Stop & Shop stores to enhance the shopping experience and deliver even greater value to our customers,” said Roger Wheeler, president of Stop & Shop. “Our customers have been clear about what they need, and we’ve listened. That’s why we’re lowering prices so families can stretch their grocery budgets further at every one of our Staten Island locations.”
Some of the price reductions are substantial. Stop & Shop Medium Soft Taco Flour Tortillas have been slashed by 50%, from $3.99 to $1.99. Chicken drum value packs now cost 32% less at $1.29 per pound, while boneless chicken breast value packs and red grapes both saw 25% price cuts.
Other notable savings include fresh bagels (reduced 23% to 99 cents each), Stop & Shop bread crumbs (down 23% to $1.99), and chicken thigh value packs (23% lower at $1.49 per pound).
