NYC Buildings Department issues violation to Staten Island business for cracked facade

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Emergency crews responded Wednesday morning to a report of a cracked facade at a commercial building in Mariners Harbor, prompting a follow-up inspection by the New York City Department of Buildings.

The FDNY received the call at 9:28 a.m. regarding the one-story structure at 158 South Ave. The address authorities provided is listed in public records as the Laundry Corner. Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they cordoned off the area and notified the Buildings Department. The incident was closed by 10:02 a.m. with no injuries reported.

Following the FDNY’s request, city building inspectors arrived at the site and observed visible cracks in the masonry facade.
