STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul is sounding the alarm on a new federal policy that she claims could disrupt healthcare coverage for hundreds of thousands of children across New York, including more than 18,000 here on Staten Island.
On Wednesday, Hochul announced the state has been informed of an upcoming policy change from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that could result in disrupted healthcare coverage for more than 750,000 children on Medicaid or Child Health Plus.
“New York will not stand by while the federal government jeopardizes children’s health coverage,” Hochul said. “This misguided policy threatens the progress we’ve made in keeping young children connected to care during the most critical years of their development.”…
