STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For 14-year-old Matthew Cona of Great Kills, honoring fallen heroes isn’t just a one-time event — it’s a calling.
As a youth runner with “Running 4 Heroes,” a national nonprofit organization, Matthew continues to honor first responders who have died in the line of duty through one-mile tribute runs that bring together law enforcement, emergency responders and local communities.
