STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Following a destructive three-alarm blaze that injured multiple people Friday, the city Department of Buildings has issued full vacate orders for the properties that were impacted by the fire.
According to the department, their inspectors were called by the FDNY following the fire to conduct a structural stability inspection of the affected properties.
While at 248 Elverton Ave., inspectors observed major structural fire damage throughout the 2-story, semi-attached, single-family home, a spokesman for the Department of Buildings told the Advance/SILive.com. The fire created severe damage to the roof and the party wall shared with the neighboring home.
