In dangerous cold, nearly 80 Staten Island firefighters battle apartment blaze: 1 injured

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY fought fire amidst dangerously cold temperatures Sunday, with one firefighter injured at a Graniteville apartment building blaze.

A call about a fire on the first floor of a two-story apartment building at 1300 Richmond Ave. came in around 6:40 a.m., according to a spokesperson from the FDNY.

At the time, wind chills had sent real-feel temperatures below zero.
