STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Beans and Leaves coffee shop will close at 11 a.m. on the day of Staten Island’s 62nd St. Patrick’s Parade, after what owners described as “disorderly people” and “multiple cleanups” during last year’s event.
The community staple, which recently re-located to Forest and Kissell avenues, announced its decision on Instagram, explaining that on a day when most businesses do well it “actually suffers.”
“From the added staff needed to combat the disorderly people who try to come in and use the bathroom, teamed with low sales because too many people are drinking or fighting in the doorway…” wrote owner Megan Coppola in the post…
