STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — While serving out a life sentence in prison, it was the little things that Danny Galiano missed the most about being a free man. Conversations with his family, cold cuts from the local deli and a hot shower in his own bathroom.
Galiano, now 56, got to experience all of those things again on Tuesday, along with a range of emotions in the hours after he was released from New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.
“I’m a little overwhelmed,” Galiano told Advance/SILive.com in a telephone interview from his mother’s house on Staten Island. “The world has passed me by. But I’m enjoying every moment of it.”…
