Andrew Dice Clay recalls Staten Island childhood ahead of St. George Theatre performance

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. For Andrew Dice Clay, Friday night’s show at the St. George Theatre isn’t just another tour stop.

“It’s fun to come back to Staten Island,” Clay, 68, told the Advance/SILive.com by phone before a show in Austin, Texas. “A lot of people don’t know — I grew up there. Between 7 and 12 years old, I lived in Staten Island.”

The leather-clad comic — the first stand-up to consistently headline arenas — will co-headline a performance on Friday, March 6, with “Saturday Night Live” alum Jon Lovitz, known for standout roles in “A League of Their Own and “The Wedding Singer.”…
