Staten Island blood drive honors 9/11 firefighter who always helped others

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island family aims to reach an all-time, life-saving blood donation total of 2,000 pints this Saturday — saving 6,000 lives — in memory of a fallen 9/11 hero who gave his own when duty called.

But they can’t do it alone.

Chipura also served a tour of duty in Beirut, Lebanon with the Marine Corps., and was a New York City police officer before joining the FDNY…
