STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s Muslim community came together Friday morning to celebrate Eid, a day centered on prayer, family, and togetherness.
Several hundred were in attendance at the 7:15 a.m. Eid Prayer and Celebration event organized by the Muslim American Society Staten Island at its Dongan Hills location.
Abdullah Akl, a spokesperson for MASSI, told the Advance/SILive.com that the celebration was a success.
“Today, MAS Staten Island welcomed over 6,000 worshippers for Eid al-Fitr, bringing together families and neighbors in one of the largest Muslim gatherings on Staten Island and among the largest in New York City,” said Akl. “The turnout reflects the growth and strength of the Muslim community here, as Eid marks the end of Ramadan, a time of reflection, generosity, and unity.”
