$100K in fines possible for alleged unpermitted construction at Staten Island building

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Alleged unpermitted construction activity at a religious facility in Charleston recently incurred fines that could total as much as $100,000, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.

A Department of Buildings spokesperson shared a list of allegedly unpermitted construction activity on the part of the Islamic Center of Staten Island, a mosque and religious community with its main headquarters along Veterans Road West in the South Shore neighborhood.

The construction is related to an adjacent property the Islamic Center owns with an Arthur Kill Road address…
