Vacant home heavily damaged in fire on Staten Island’s Amboy Road; massive FDNY response

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A vacant two-and-a-half-story house in Pleasant Plains was heavily damaged by a late-night fire Thursday, drawing more than 140 firefighters and emergency personnel to the scene.

The Fire Department received the call at 10:22 p.m. for the home located at 6675 Amboy Road between Richmond Valley Road and Georgia Court.

Upon arrival, crews found the dwelling fully engulfed in flames.

The intensity of the fire prompted officials to call a second alarm at 10:34 p.m., bringing the response to 46 units and 141 fire and EMS personnel…
