STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Several dozen students, parents and community members gathered Tuesday evening at St. Peter’s Boys High School, New Brighton for a powerful installment of “Scared Straight,” a forum aimed at confronting the realities of addiction and educating young people about its dangers.
Hosted by Staten Island nurse and longtime advocate Alicia Palermo-Reddy, known as “The Addiction Angel,” the event was sponsored by outpatient rehab facility Grand Union Holistic Solutions of Travis and featured emotional testimonials from individuals directly impacted by substance and gambling abuse.
