NYPD investigating burglary after Staten Island JC Penney’s doors are smashed in

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is investigating a reported burglary at JC Penney, located in the Staten Island Mall in New Springville, on Sunday.

Police responded to a call of a burglary at the business that took place just after 7 a.m., according to a spokesperson from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

Based on preliminary info, there were no injuries from the incident. The spokesperson was unable to provide further information about the burglary but said that police were still on the scene as of Sunday afternoon.
