(KRON) — A Brentwood woman whose car was recently stolen spotted the car — and two thieves inside it — on Sunday afternoon, police said. The crime victim’s 911 call to emergency dispatchers triggered a police response that resulted in two arrests, the Brentwood Police Department said.
The incident began around 5 p.m., when the woman recognized her car with two strangers inside on Brentwood Boulevard.
Officers arrived on scene and detained 41 year-old Michael VanBrusselen, of Clayton, and 58 year-old Kelly Katrones, of Pittsburg, BPD said. Police discovered that the license plate affixed to the stolen car actually belonged to a car registered to Katrones.
Officers searched the car and found a shotgun, shaved keys, as well as numerous more burglary tools, according to BPD.
VanBrusselen and Katrones were arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen car and burglary tools. VanBrusselen, who is a convicted felon, also had an outstanding warrant, police said.
