Two Dead After Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 4

A tragic incident unfolded early Saturday morning on eastbound Highway 4 near Antioch, as a driver traveling in the wrong direction collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of both occupants.

The California Highway Patrol Contra Costa division responded to the scene around 4:30 a.m., following reports of a two-vehicle crash west of Lone Tree Way. Preliminary investigations revealed that a blue Scion TC was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided with a black Mazda 3. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, and no other individuals were present in either vehicle at the time of the collision.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash and have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. They urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact CHP Contra Costa.
