The nominations for The Record’s first Student of the Week poll are in, and now it’s time for readers to vote for the best of the best.
Students were nominated by participating San Joaquin County high school principals, teachers, and guidance counselors for outstanding academic achievement and character. All public and private high schools in the county are welcome to participate in the weekly contest.
Voting is open until noon on Thursday. The winner will be announced online at Recordnet.com on Friday and featured in Sunday’s print edition.

Here are the nominees for Feb. 12-18 and what was said about them:
Amogh Shankar, junior, Tracy High School: “Amogh is a student who makes a difference in the academic world. His academic skills are beyond comparison. He is a student who is passionate about his work. He is sincere, dedicated, and a hardworking student. He is a silent worker and would put all his efforts into every task he is assigned. Because of his quiet nature, sometimes his efforts go unrecognized,” according to his nomination from Baljinder Kaur, chemistry teacher.
