MODESTO, Calif. – A man was arrested Saturday after an assault that left a woman dead the day before, according to the Modesto Police Department. Officers were send to the northbound Highway 99 offramp at 6th Street around 8:53 p.m. Friday about a hit-and-run crash. The woman was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries, according to police. An investigation into the crash found she had been assaulted in Modesto prior to being found and taken to the hospital.
