Convicted murderer charged in Brentwood robbery

( KRON ) — A 38-year-old Oakley resident with a prior murder conviction was arrested and charged in connection to an armed robbery in Brentwood that occurred earlier this month, according to the Brentwood Police Department.

The charges come after an Aug. 4 incident where two suspects allegedly robbed a victim at gunpoint at 50 Sand Creek Road. One of the suspects, identified as Orey Douglas, 28, of Antioch, was arrested after a police chase, authorities said. The second suspect remained at large.

Suspected kidnapper arrested in Brentwood

Detectives learned the identity of the second suspect, Sam Gray, 38, of Oakley, and took him into custody on Aug. 8, Brentwood PD said. Gray was a parolee at the time of his arrest and has a previous conviction for murder.

On Monday, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Gray for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said. Due to Gray’s previous murder conviction, his bail was set at $1.62 million.
