Missing Antioch man found dead in Petaluma River in apparent fishing accident

( KRON ) — A body found floating lifelessly in the Petaluma River on Saturday was identified as that of an Antioch man reported missing last week. The man was located by the Marin County Fire Department floating in the river, according to the Marin County Sheriff.

Fire department personnel had been actively searching for a man reported missing last Tuesday, Aug. 6 by a manager at his workplace after he failed to show up on consecutive days. The United States Coast Guard was also actively engaged in the search on San Pablo Bay.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, Coast Guard personnel located an aluminum boat capsized on the northwest side of the bay, according to law enforcement. The boat was confirmed to be registered to the missing subject, 50-year-old Jeremy Wyatt, of Antioch.

According to the Marin Sheriff, Wyatt is believed to have been fishing at the time of his disappearance. A multi-agency effort was launched to search for and recover him, involving Marin County Sheriff, Marin County Sheriff Search and Rescue, Marin County Sheriff Air Patrol, Marin County FD Water Rescue Team, California Highway Patrol, Sonoma County Sheriff Air Patrol, Marin County Sheriff Marine Patrol, Alameda County Sheriff’s Dive Team and U.S. Coast Guard.
