Freeway shooting in Northern California leads to injuries, manhunt underway

(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol is asking for help to find the person responsible for shooting at people on a Newcastle freeway Friday night.

Around 9 p.m., a shooting was reported on Westbound I-80, east of Maple Street in the Auburn area. The suspects fired from a vehicle and caused minor injuries to occupants in another vehicle. The victims called 911 and were subsequently transported to local hospitals where they are expected to make a full recovery.

Officials said I-80 was temporarily closed while CHP investigated and gathered evidence. A suspect has yet to be identified so law enforcement asked anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
