A man was killed early Thursday morning in Stockton, and investigators are working to uncover the motive behind the deadly shooting.
Stockton police responded at about 2:23 a.m. to the 100 block of East Iris Avenue , just north of East Hammer Lane, after dispatchers received a call reporting gunshots.
The first officers on scene found a 33-year-old man who had been shot. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity hasn’t been released, pending notification of family by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Evidence markers littered the ground while crime scene investigators and detectives searched for clues to solve the case in the early morning hours.
Police released no information about a possible motive or suspect descriptions.
