CPUC Recommends Over $71 Million for Last Mile Broadband Projects in Northern California

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has announced the sixth round of recommended awards under the Last Mile Federal Funding Account Grant Program, which includes significant investments in broadband infrastructure for Northern California. Among the proposed projects, $71.4 million in grants have been recommended for broadband infrastructure projects in Del Norte, Humboldt, and Siskiyou counties. These projects aim to bring high-speed internet access to 2,996 unserved locations, benefiting an estimated 8,801 residents. Notably, 87 percent of these locations are within disadvantaged communities, highlighting the state’s commitment to bridging the digital divide.
