Woman dies after alleged assault at assisted care facility in Northern California, police say

(FOX40.COM) — A woman died on Tuesday at Sutter Roseville Medical Center about one week after police say another patient allegedly assaulted her at an assisted living facility in Northern California.

The Roseville Police Department said the victim, 90, was allegedly assaulted by a 77-year-old memory care patient at a facility in Roseville on Nob Hill Court. Officers said the woman suffered “significant” facial injuries before being taken to the hospital for treatment.

“Our hearts go out to the family and the loved ones of the victim during this incredibly difficult time,” Roseville Police said. “The Roseville Police Department remains committed to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation and will continue to support the victim’s family and the community as this process unfolds.”

Police added that the suspect was taken to a different facility and the case was passed on to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office for review.
