A federal grand jury has indicted three individuals for their roles in a bank robbery conspiracy spanning Northern California, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California announced today.
Dontae Jones Jr., 20, Yasmin Millett, 21, and JoMya Mauriyne Futch, 21, are charged with conspiracy to commit bank robbery and multiple counts of bank robbery. Futch is also charged with perjury.
According to court documents, Jones and Millett conspired to commit at least 10 bank robberies from June 2023 to September 2024. They targeted banks and credit unions in Sacramento, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Concord, and Antioch.
The pair recruited primarily women, including Futch, to pass threatening notes to bank employees, demanding money. In one instance, Jones and Millett allegedly forced a woman at gunpoint to commit a robbery, and in another, they used a minor in an attempted robbery.
After successfully robbing the banks, Jones and Millett distributed the stolen money among the conspirators. They advertised their activities on social media, showing off large amounts of cash, and directed recruits to wear dark sunglasses and carry purses to hide their identities and transport the stolen money.
