A quiet, mostly dry weekend is ahead for Northern California, with seasonable temperatures and partly cloudy skies. While there’s a slight chance of light sprinkles Saturday night into Sunday in the northern Sacramento Valley, significant accumulation is unlikely.
The weather takes a turn late Sunday night as a fast-moving storm system moves into the region, bringing widespread rain, high-elevation snow, and gusty winds. Northern areas, especially north of I-80, could see up to half an inch of rain, while the foothills and mountain areas may receive an inch or more.
Snowfall is expected primarily above 6,000 feet, where there is a high chance of two or more inches. Winds will pick up across the Delta and Valley, with gusts reaching 20-30 mph, while Sierra areas may experience gusts up to 40 mph. The forecast also includes a slight chance of thunderstorms in the Valley on Monday, though these probabilities have decreased slightly. Unsettled weather is anticipated to continue throughout the week.
