A weak cold front passing through Northern California today will be followed by a more active weather pattern starting Sunday evening. The National Weather Service predicts breezy southerly winds and widespread rainfall as a stronger front moves in, with the unsettled conditions likely continuing into next week.
This morning, high clouds are moving in ahead of the weakening front, bringing chilly temperatures and frost in some areas. While only light rain is expected today, precipitation will pick up again Sunday night as a more powerful front arrives. The front, accompanied by moderate southerly winds, will bring heavy rain and wind gusts to parts of Del Norte, Humboldt, and the King Range.
Expect up to 2.5 inches of rainfall in the interior Del Norte region and around 1 inch near Humboldt Bay. Wind gusts could reach 40 to 55 mph in higher elevations, especially in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms late Monday into Monday night. The stormy pattern will continue through the week, with further unsettled conditions on the horizon.
