Tracy police use drone to capture armed robbery suspect

TRACY, California ( MyCaliforniaNews ) — An armed robbery suspect was apprehended with the help of drone technology after a heist at Stars Casino early Friday morning. Tracy Police Department officers responded to the scene and utilized an Unmanned Aircraft System to locate the suspect.The incident occurred on December 13, 2024, at approximately 5:45 a.m. when an adult male, dressed in black and armed with a firearm, reportedly stole a large sum of money from the casino located at 3170 Naglee Road. Officers deployed the drone to search the area, which led them to find the suspect, Joseph Just, a 34-year-old from Antioch, running through a nearby property.Using the drone’s thermal imaging technology, officers discovered Just hiding in a drainage ditch. After a brief negotiation, he surrendered to the authorities. A replica firearm and a significant amount of cash were recovered at the scene, according to the Tracy Police Department.Just was subsequently booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of robbery under 211 PC.
