NORTHSTATE, Calif. – For the first time ever, ancestral land was returned to the Wintu Tribe of Northern California the week of Dec. 15. Tribal leaders told KRCR that their nonprofit, the Toyon-Wintu Center, got the 320 acres near McCloud in Siskiyou County. They said this marks the very first time ancestral land has been returned to the Tribe.
