Stormy Week Ahead for Northern California: Rain, Winds, and Thunderstorms

Northern California is bracing for a stormy week with showers continuing into Monday, followed by a stronger weather system Monday night. Scattered thunderstorms along the coast this evening are bringing lightning and gusty winds, with Del Norte and Humboldt counties seeing gusts of 45-55 mph, and up to 70 mph over higher terrain.

Monday afternoon will usher in an atmospheric river, delivering 1-2.5 inches of rain, with localized totals up to 4.5 inches. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 1 PM to 10 PM Monday, warning of gusts up to 70 mph in exposed areas.

After a brief dry spell on Christmas Day, another powerful system arrives Wednesday night, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and snow above 4,500 feet.
